Pop Tubes

Pop tubes toys are flexible and colorful tubes that can be compressed and expanded to create a popping sound and a tactile sensation. They are also popular sensory toys that provide tactile stimulation, auditory feedback, and can be used to promote fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Pop tubes come in various sizes and colors and can be enjoyed by children of different ages from 3 years old and up.

How WE used it/What we liked

A great, simple toy for grasp practice, as well as some arm and shoulder extension use. These are fun as they make the popping sound as they extend, and the little bumps give something to hold onto.

Definitely need some grasp, or assistance to hold perhaps to pull them apart and push together. We would mix up letting our daughter just pull them apart as she could, or isolating one arm to stay still and using the other hand to pull it apart by itself, getting her to reach and grab, or place in her hand herself etc. Can be made a single hand activity if you hold one side.

Look out for

Your child will need some grasp to be able to use these. Alternatively, you can help hold one end in their affected hand to enable the activity to be completed. They can be a little slippery, but opening the start of the tubes to give the corrugated effect helps with grip. The toy themselves can degrade after a while and lose the “pop” sound or get tricky to compress.
