The Learning Resources Hoot the Fine Motor Owl is an interactive toy designed to help young children develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Drop coins in the top, make sounds with it’s beak, flap the wings or slide the front buttons together. It is recommended for children ages 18 months and up.
How WE used it/What we likedWe loved using this toy to start working on releasing from a grasp. The discs that are placed in the top have a nice lip to enable your child to hold them well, without being too bulky or difficult to let go. We would hold them out in front of our daughter and encourage her to reach and grasp, and then help where needed to either line up the slot at the top for the disc, or help release her hand to drop the discs in. Some nice added features with the eyes that are gears and move each other, the nose that squeaks when pushed, and the wings that can be moved.
